Rethinking displacement, sanctuary and humanitarianism through research, collaboration and public engagement

Professor Elena Fiddian-Qasmiyeh is a world-renowned scholar of displacement, humanitarianism, ethics, representation and knowledge production.

Her field-defining work has made influential contributions to our understandings of how people respond to displacement and interconnected crises, how knowledge and narratives about displacement are produced, and how refugee and Southern perspectives can reshape understandings of care, responsibility and collective life.

Alongside her scholarship, she has built and led major internationally-funded research programmes, and has established interdisciplinary research networks, and journals and partnerships that bring universities into sustained dialogue with humanitarian, policy, cultural and community organisations.
